Pick up a roadmap, you’re going to need it…

I need a place to stay…

… in Kansas City for a few nights next week. I have a job interview at a local private school on Monday morning (the 16th). That means I need a place to stay at least Sunday and Monday night - and possibly Tuesday night. The Tuesday is just because I want to spend some time in the prayer room and see my friends.

I’m back on days so I won’t be going to the Night Watch for much time (if any other than maybe the 5 to 6 am.)

If you, or someone you know could loan me a couch - or a patch of floor - please let me know.

Reflections after The Call

Highlights from The Call include but are not limited to the following:

~ realizing that when your group agrees to no complaining for the entire trip things will happen to test your resolve to stick to that fast (yes, we did fast complaining for three days)

~ realizing that when the air conditioner breaks you have two choices - make a potentially bad situation a fun one or complain

~ checkers and playing mad games of Speed can make 5.5 hours on the porch of Cracker Barrel fly by

~ McDonald’s staff freaks out when 35 people show up 20 minutes before closing

~ I got to room with three of the most wonderful women ever: Erin, Stacey, and Holly

~ I used “35 proof donut glaze” and still got sunburned on my shoulders (Holly missed a few spots on my back during the “glazing process”)

~ The sunscreen I brought so I wouldn’t burn was found as we pulled back into Shreveport

~ There is no more beautiful a sight as 3+ generations fasting, praying, and worshiping together

~ I remember the heart I used to have about the issue of abortion and The Call helped re-spark that fire within

~ The holiest of moments are not always in the prayer service - sometimes they are on a bus, with no A.C., with voices lifted in praise and only a small Mexican percussion instrument to accompany them

~ If you pray for rain it will come - we prayed for rain for 4 hours on the bus (while singing wonderful worship songs to said Mexican instrument), only to have it start raining as we sang the chorus of “Let it Rain”

~ This trip to The Call was a true expression of what the church should be - and will be: multiple churches from one area coming together despite of, and because of, our differences to enjoy each others company and pursue the heart of God.

~ I’m thankful for Pastor Tim for inviting our church to join Christian Center for this trip, Brother Rob for driving the bus, John West for driving the van, and for the corporate fasting of complaining.

That’s enough for tonight. I am thoroughly sleepy and need to rest.

Back on days

As of today I am back on days.  I forgot how hard it is to make the switch over between first shift and third shift - and personally I think the shift to nights is easier than the shift back to days.  Actually, I think the switch over would have been easier if a lot of contributing factors had not worked their way into my week. I had a supervisor quit/get fired and broke a tooth so bad I have to get a root canal before going to The Call this weekend.

It’s been a rough switch over, but I’m going to make it. I’m looking forward to seeing my friends a little more, going to anime night on Saturdays, and going to church regularly.
